Digital Accessibility Explained: Launching Our New Video Series

Web accessibility is no longer optional; it’s essential if we want everyone to fully participate in the digital world. Whether you work in design, development, content strategy, or social media, you have a role to play. That’s why our team at Ciao Technologies is launching a new video series called “Digital Accessibility Explained.”

In this series, UX designer Audrey-Anne Joncas, along with other members of our team, walks you through accessibility step by step. Instead of heavy technical jargon or purely theoretical concepts, we focus on clear explanations, real-world examples, and practical actions you can actually take in your day-to-day work.

Why this series, and why now? Because in Québec, about 21% of the population lives with a disability—that’s 1.4 million people. Across Canada, that number climbs to more than 8 million people. But accessibility isn’t just about statistics or formally recognized disabilities. A bright sun on your phone screen, a broken arm, a noisy environment, or text that’s simply too small can be enough to make a website difficult—or impossible—to use. Designing for accessibility is really about designing for real life.

Over the course of the series, you’ll discover:

  • what web accessibility actually is and why it affects everyone;
  • the standards and principles that form the foundation of good practice;
  • how to build accessibility into your projects without starting from scratch;
  • quick wins you can apply right away;
  • the most common mistakes to avoid;
  • and, finally, how to check the real accessibility level of your platform.

Our goal is simple: to give you the tools to see accessibility not as a constraint, but as a lever. A lever to reach more people, improve your user experience, strengthen your brand, and meet your legal obligations.

Stay tuned: in the next blog post, we’ll dive into the first video in the series and unpack the basics of web accessibility, with concrete examples that show how it can transform the digital experience for everyone.
